State Tournament Scores Great Performances at State August 4th: Luke Van Handel went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Kimberly. Teammate Sam Rein added a 2-for-4 with a run scored performance in the first of two championship games. Van Handel stayed hot at the plate in the second game, going 3-for-3 with a home run and two RBI. He would be named tournament MVP. Menasha's Adam Grambow was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Teammate Anthony Lutz went 3-for-4 with a double. August 3rd: Brad Smolinski's two out, three run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning tied the score 6-6. Then Menasha won it in the bottom of the eight on a single to left field by Taylor O'Conell.. Kimberly's Luke Van Handel tossed a complete game four hit shut out. August 2nd: Michel Polcyn led Ripon to the Class A Championship by going 3-for-5 with a double, home run, two runs scored, and six RBI. Teammate Connor McElligott added a 3-for-4 day with a double, three runs scored and one RBI. Adam Kramer tossed a complete game five hitter as Wausau claimed the Class AAA title. Jake Wenzel hit a grand slam, and Sean Gerber went 2-for-3 with two RBI for Stoughton. Waupun's Eric Marwitz was 1-for-3 with a home run and five RBI. Teammate Derek Loomans scattered three hits over seven scoreless innings to earn the win. Brad Smolinski of Menasha was 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBI. Teammate Blake Lornson added a 4-for-5 day with a RBI. Eric Markisen and Matt Freeman each hit three run homers for Green Bay Southwest in the state semi-final. Markisen finished the game with three hits and five RBI. August 1st: Shawn Montsma went 2-for-2 with four RBI as Waupun stayed alive in the AA tournament. Menomonie's Treyson Vavra was 3-for-4 with a double. Nick Tatro of Antigo went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Tatro was also the winning pitcher, tossing seven innings and allowing one unearned run on three hits. Ben Bergum hit a grand slam as Viroqua
defeated Northern Door 11-9. Menasha's Adam Grambow goes 3-for-4 with a double. Eau Claire used a five run fifth inning to slip by Wausau 8-6. Matt Hannon led Green Bay Southwest with a 3-for-4 day and two runs scored. Teammate Kyle Kuske added three RBI. Five players collected two hits apiece to help Kimberly defeat #1 Onalaska. Will Randerson earned the win, allowing one run on six hits and striking out six. Jesse Ehrnberg was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI for Ripon. July 31st: Tom Sawyer's two run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning keyed a four run rally as Northern Door eliminated two time defending champion Clintonville 6-4. Stoughton's Dylan Gazazzoni was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Teammate Eric Gerber went 2-for-5 with a double, home run, and four RBI. Onalaska's Jordan Guth tossed a complete game two hit shutout. Teammate Zac Knutson was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Matt Hannon from Green Bay Southwest went 3-for4 with four runs scored. Teammates Mac Gardon and Kyle Kuske each added four RBI. Brad Smolinski went 2-for-2 with a home run and two RBI for Menasha. Smolinski also earned the win, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six. Jefferson tallyed 12 runs in the fifth inning to defeat Black River Falls 19-17. Lucas Smilie collected four hits, including a double, triple, and 4 RBI. Geoff Laudon of Black River Falls went 4-for-4, with two home runs and four RBI. Wausau came back from a 6-0 fifth inning deficit to defeat Hartford 8-6. Luke Gajewski led Wausau at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Will Randerson's two run double in the top of the seventh inning broke a 1-1 tie and propelled Kimberly past Seymour 4-1. Ripon's Markus Singh was 4-for-4 with a double, home run, and three RBI. July 30th: Northern Door used a late rally, scoring five runs with two out in the sixth inning and four in the seventh to defeat Mayville 10-4. Green Bay Southwest's Kyle Kuske went 4-for-4 with a double and RBI. Eau Claire scored seven times in the fifth inning to edge past Neenah 10-7. Dylan Lawrence hit a game winning home run in the ninth inning to lift Viroqua past Clintonville 4-3. Clintonville's Mike Hogan belted a three run homer in the top of the seventh inning to put his team up 3-2. Wausau's Seth McMullen went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI. A attempted suicide squeeze turned into a double play to preserve a 6-5 win over Beloit. Zach Wellnitz went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI for Jefferson. Ripon hit seven home runs in their 16-8 victory over Black River Falls. July 29th: Bill Oppreicht was 2-for-5 with four RBI for Viroqua, who jumped out to a 10-0 first inning lead. Jordan Harris and Kasey Hallmark each went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Mike Jacobs drove in three as Beloit edges Eau Claire 6-5. Beloit would score two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for the win. Eau Claire's Tyler Hermann went 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI. Mike Parman led Wausau going a 3-for-5 with a home run. Brock Fritz of Madison Impact tossed a one hit shut out. Teammate Aaron Nelson collected two hits and three RBI.
