Championship Game - Tuesday, July 25, 2006

Marinette 7, Sheboygan 5

At Marinette - Sheboygan jumped out to a early 3-0 first inning lead on Peter Reschke's RBI single to left center and Lucas Wilsing's two-run homer down the right field line.  Marinette bounced back in their half of the inning, scoring twice on Pat Wolard's two-run home run to straight away center field, cutting the Sheboygan lead 3-2.

Tony Hoitink lead off the top second inning with a home run stretching the Post 83 lead to 4-2. That lead was quickly erased as Marinette scored five time in the bottom of the frame. Matt Okrasinski RBI ground out plated Ryan Gusick to make it 4-3. Adam Francour doubled to right center tying the game at 4-4. Sam Hutchison singled to left plating Francour to give Marinette the lead for good at 5-4. After Curtis Bovee walked, Pat Wolard struck again with a two RBI double to right center making the score 7-4. Wolard finished the game 2-for-3 with a double, home run, and four RBI.

Jon Valdez lead off home run in the top of the third inning made the score 7-5 Marinette. Valdez would go 2-for-3 with a double, home run, two runs scored and one RBI. Sheboygan wouldn't threaten again until the top of the sixth inning. With two outs and a runner on first, Tony Gollhardt and Adam Matth reached via hit by pitch to load the bases. Marinette would make a pitching change, bringing in their ace Tyler Lorenz to preserve the lead. But mother nature had other ideas, as five tosses into his warm ups the rains came and thwarted Post 83's comeback attempt. 

Joel Fendrick takes the win for Marinette, pitching the final two innings, allowing zero hits and striking out one. Ryan Schmitz took the loss, going one and two-thirds innings while allowing six earned runs on four hits.
