Pulaski Dethrones Shawano to Take First North Division Title

Pulaski ended Shawano's reign as two-time defending league champions and claimed the Fox River Valley American Legion League's North Division championship with a 7-4 victory on July 21 in Pulaski.
The division title is Pulaski's first in league records dating to 1991. Its 10-4 record also marks the fewest losses the team has had during that span. Pulaski will play for the American Conference championship on Friday at East Division champion De Pere at 5:30 p.m. The winner will play for the league title on Monday.
Pulaski not only needed a victory over the defending champs, but got big help from Seymour, which beat Shawano 10-6 on Tuesday and Kaukauna 16-12 on Wednesday to clear the way. Pulaski and Shawano tied for the title, but Pulaski won both season meetings. If Kaukauna had beaten Seymour to force a three-way tie, Kaukauna would have won the division based on head-to-head tiebreakers.
Pulaski scored in every inning on Wednesday and got a complete game pitching performance from Brent Belaire, who struck out six and walked two while scattering five hits. Drew Basten was three-for-four and Rob VandenLangenberg was two-for-two as Pulaski recorded 10 hits.
