Hortonville Captures Second Straight West Division Crown
Hortonville will defend its National Conference title after winning its
second straight West Division crown with a 10-5 triumph over New London on
July 19 in Hortonville.
Kris Gutknecht was three-for-four with two home runs
and four runs batted in to lead Hortonville. Dan Immel and Kevin Foley
were also three-for-four with two RBI's as Hortonville pounded out 13
hits. Andy Anderson earned the victory with a complete game, striking out
three and walking five.
Hortonville is now 11-1 in league play and could still
finish in a tie with Kimberly, but holds the tiebreaker based on victories
in both head-to-head meetings.
With one victory in its final two games, Hortonville
also earns the right to host the National Conference championship game for
the second straight year against the South Division champion. The
conference finals are set for Friday, July 23.
Hortonville also won division titles in 1999 and 1997
and has advanced to the league finals in each of its three previous
divisional championship years. It won the league crown in 1997. |
