De Pere Blanks Eau Claire to Capture 17-and-under Junior Varsity State Title

     Erik Olson pitched a three-hit shutout to lead De Pere to the 17-and-under junior varsity American Legion state championship with a 6-0 win over Eau Claire on July 29 in Marinette.
     Olson was staked to an early lead as De Pere scored three runs in the first inning, one in the second and two in the fourth for the victory. Kyle Kopitzke drilled a two-run triple in the fourth to boost De Pere to a six-run lead.
     De Pere finished the season with a 28-10 record. Eau Claire advanced to the title game with a 9-4 win over Milwaukee East earlier in the day.
