League Season Recap
De Pere Finishes 2-1 at
National Regional
De Pere finished 2-1 at the Central Plains
National Regional in New Ulm, Minn.,
losing to Minot, N.D. 6-3 on its final day to be
eliminated from the tournament. De Pere had won its first two games in extra innings,
beating Rochester, Minn. 6-5 in 13 innings and
defeating Lawrence, Kan. 2-1 in 12 innings.
De Pere lost out on a tiebreaker to Minot and Rochester to miss out on
advancing to the semifinal round.

De Pere, Shawano and Manawa Are State Champs
De Pere and Shawano joined Manawa as state
champions on August 6, giving the Fox River Valley Legion League two
champions for the second straight year. De Pere beat Plover 4-2 and
Shawano topped North Division rival Seymour 5-0.

American Beats National in Extra Inning League All-Star Game
Winning
pitcher Mike Rickert of Shawano homered in the top of the 10th inning to
lead the American Conference to a 12-9 victory over the National
Conference in the Fox River Valley League All-Star Game on Aug. 17 in
Kimberly.

Takes Second Straight League Title
Four
pitchers combined on a three-hitter as Shawano rolled to its second
straight Fox River Valley American Legion League title with a 6-1
championship game victory over Hortonville on July 29 in Shawano.

capture the 17-and-under American Legion state championship in Marinette

Shawano Advance to League Finals
Hortonville blanked Sheboygan 2-0 and Shawano
topped De Pere 5-3 in conference title games on July 22 to advance to the
Fox River Valley League championship game on July 29 in Shawano.

De Pere and Shawano held top spots in the final
state poll of the regular season. Viroqua was the top-ranked Class A team.
Appleton Rebels, Hortonville, Manitowoc, Marinette and Neenah also held
spots.

League will be represented by 13 players at the annual Wisconsin American
Legion Baseball all-star game on Sunday, August 10 at Miller Park in

West Division
Hortonville joined De Pere as the second team to
clinch a division crown this season by taking the West Division title with
a 14-3 win over Winneconne on
July 17. Hortonville also sealed home field advantage for the National
Conference championship game on July 22.
