Green Bay Southwest Clinches South Division, Appleton Rebels Take Wild

batted in and also pitched two scoreless innings for a save as Green Bay
Southwest clinched the Fox River Valley American Legion League South
Division title with an 8-6 win over Oshkosh on Tues., July 23.
Southwest wrapped up its first-ever championship season
with a 16-2 record and will be the top seed for the upcoming playoffs on
August 7. Southwest will host the Appleton Rebels in the semifinals. The
Rebels earned the wild card berth with a 15-3 record and hold a tiebreaker
over Appleton Legion by beating the crosstown rival twice.
Southwest won both regular season meetings with
the Rebels, winning 6-3 on June 18 and 1-0 in eight innings on June 12.
Waupaca clinched the West
Division title and will take on the North Division champion in the
other semifinal. Shawano can clinch its first-ever title and the No. 2
seed with a win over Menominee on Wed., July 24. If Shawano falls, De Pere
will win the North Division for the fourth straight year and be the No. 3
seed, giving Waupaca the No. 2 spot.
The two semifinal winners will meet for the
league championship on August 8 at the highest remaining
